DESCRIPTION

Pycnonotus penicillatus, is a species of songbird in the bulbul family of passerine birds. Also Known As the yellow-Tufted bulbul. It is an endemic resident breeder in the highlands of Sri Lanka. a yellow belly and distinctive head pattern with yellow tufts behind each eye, white tufts above each eye, and white horns sticking up from the base of the bill. Found in small parties in the canopy of hill forests and adjacent woods and gardens. Sounds/calls are like . It has the great honor of being featured in the Rs. 5000 note of Sri Lanka and 10 rupee Stamp. Named locally in variety of names Kaha Kondaya, Kaha kan Kondaya, Galaguduwa, bama kaha Galaguduwa.
